Maintenance

Residential or Business Semi-annual and Annual Maintenance agreements are available.

Adopt a schedule for regular computer maintenance to improve the performance of and increase the life of your computer. Proper regular maintenance will also help to prevent data/file loss.

1. Do you have the recommended recovery diskettes and the proper recovery settings in place to ensure a more complete file recovery should your PC crash?
2. Do you backup your data/files each time you make changes?
3. Do you regularly clean the INSIDE of your PC to remove the insulating blanket of accumulated dust that is making your PC run too hot?
4. Do you have the proper software to regularly remove pop-ups, advertisements (adware), spying software (spyware) and malicious software (malware)?
5. Do you realize that Windows XP Home Edition doesn't have the free Microsoft Backup program that comes standard with Professional version?**

There is free [for personal use] software available that will aid you in your maintenance/removal of ad/spy/malware. We know which are the best and how to install and setup these programs.*

*Per the manufacturer of these recommended programs, they are only free to private individuals; businesses must purchase full versions (which have more features such as auto updates).

**The Home Edition CD does contain the backup program, but is in a specific folder and does NOT get installed during normal setup.

Computer Health

The term "Computer Virus" or "Computer Bug" is apropo today, and "catching" a computer virus can be just as easy as when we catch one. A computer virus not only affects the health of your computer, it can also affect your financial health if you are using your computer to its fullest such as for tracking online investments or for online banking transactions.

Computer bugs come in many forms, mainly from interaction with other computers via the Internet or from unprotected access points such as floppy diskettes. Just as you and I must interact with other people on a day-to-day basis in order to be as productive as we can be, our computers must do the same with other computers. This increases the probability of infection due to sheer volume.

Symptoms include: increasingly slower log in and internet access times, multiple 'pop-up' advertisements, increased need to restart computer.
